Watching ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 at UAE

After having successfully hosted two major sports events in the last few weeks, UAE is continuing to accommodate other major sports events.

The second part of The Indian Premier League 2021 was held in UAE recently. A total of thirty-one matches were played across 27 days from 19th September till 15th October. Since stadiums are open to spectators, supporters of different franchises did have an exciting time.

Another major event, The Tecnotree Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup, happened between November 2 to 6. Eight top teams competed in the event including UAE, Portugal, Russia, Iran, Japan, Spain, Paraguay, and Senegal. Russia won the cup in the final against Iran. The atmosphere at the Kite Beach in Dubai was electrifying during those days.

Since then, the focus has been shifted to the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 cricket.

India was supposed to be the host country for the showpiece event. However, the pandemic situation in India forced the organizers to shift the multinational event to UAE. After completing the qualifying rounds in Oman, the World Cup with the Super 12s kicked off on 23rd October. The final is scheduled to take place in Dubai on 14th November.

The Super 12s

As in all the major sports events comprising multiple teams, the total number of teams is divided into two groups in this T20 World Cup too.

Group 1Group 2
AustraliaNew Zealand
EnglandIndia
West IndiesPakistan
South AfricaNamibia
Sri LankaAfghanistan
BangladeshScotland

Venues and Timings

All thirty matches are being played between these twelve teams across three different stadiums in the three Emirates.

  • Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai
  • Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah
  • Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi

Unlike other countries, where traveling between venues consumes a lot of time and involves various hassles, the teams benefit profoundly in UAE. The onset of winter provides relatively pleasant clime for the players on the field through the T20 World Cup 2021.

Afternoon matches are scheduled to start at 2.00 PM local time and the evening matches at 6.00 PM.

Semi-Final

For all the fans of the Indian cricket team, the semifinal and final will have little significance. Among the other seven teams, supposed-to-be-hosts India also has been ousted. The four teams that clash for the final berths are England, Pakistan, Australia, and New Zealand. And Semi happens on the 10th and 11th before the final in Dubai on 14th.

As the T20 World Cup is gearing towards the business end, one might think the crowd pullers of the event are out of the tournament already. However, never forget Pakistan has several thousand fan bases in UAE. And the number of people residing and visiting from England, New Zealand and Australia is significant too.

Perks of being in UAE now

Besides watching your favorite teams play at the T20 World Cup 2021, you have other benefits of being in UAE these few weeks.

  • It is winter and tourist season in UAE.
  • Fantastic opportunity to visit the Expo 2020.
  • Visit recently opened landmark spots in Dubai like Tussauds Wax Museum, Aura Skypool Lounge and Dubai Eye.
  • Take part in YogaFest Middle East & Run The Track Night Run
  • Enjoy the beauty of Dubai Miracle Garden.
  • Visit International Trade Show & SIAL Middle East 2021 in Abu Dhabi
  • Dubai Shopping festival, Global Village and several more significant shows and events and spots amaze you during these weeks.

So what are you waiting for?
