6 Winter Travel Essentials for your Packing List

Winters are a great time for many travelers to venture out into various destinations in the world, immersing in the chilly weather and snowy wonderland. Several places remain pleasant, while some face comparatively harsh weather conditions with snowfall and landslides. Hence it is essential to equip yourselves with proper winter gear to brave any condition while visiting the sightseeing spots in winter. I will be sharing some of the Winter travel essentials to be packed in our bags for a safe and secure visit.

Thermals

Thermals are one of the important winter travel essentials, not to be missed. They help in trapping the body heat that acts as an insulation against the wintery cold weather. Thermals keep the body warm and comfortable, even if the temperature drops below 0 degrees centigrade. But use them judiciously. If the temperature is chill outside then only it is recommended to use the thermals else it may overheat your body which may not be a very comfortable option.

Down Jacket

If you are heading towards a place with heavy snowfall, then it is recommended to pack your down jacket. A down Jacket is one of the preferred winter travel essentials and it definitely should be waterproof. The hood must be detachable for easy packing into your travel bags. Check out the clothing and insulating material of the hood like synthetic wool or faux fur, good protection against extreme cold.

Scarves

The winter tourist destinations often are windy, which mandate protection of your head, neck, and ears. Scarves are one of the best winter travel essentials that can be used for this purpose. It is best to select cashmere as the material for scarves. It helps in keeping the body warm. Besides you can use them to pep up your fashion style and accessorize your style quotient.

Boots

Protecting your feet is important during winters and especially when you are visiting places with snowfall. There are chances for frostbites as you walk over the snow. Ensure to wear proper socks with high boots for that extra protection and warmth. Your feet remain dry too thereby maintaining health and hygiene. Check the grip of the boots before purchasing one for your travels. You can try padded boots too if you are looking for some extra warmth and comfort.

Gloves

Gloves are one of the mandatory winter travel essentials. Hands tend to freeze in the wintery cold. Protection is very much needed from severe cold and freezing weather. They also must be waterproof for keeping the hands dry and free from moisture. Another crucial part is to check out gloves that allow touchscreen capabilities. Accessing smart mobile devices is a must nowadays and required for travel.

Sunscreen, Moisturisers and Lip balms

In winters when you travel, you are exposed to harsh weather conditions. Your skin is sure to be affected and needs to be kept moisturized. Besides the UV rays are said to be higher in winters than in other seasons. You must definitely include sunscreen, moisturizers, and lip balms in your travel bags among your winter travel essentials.

With adequate protection, travel during winters will surely turn out to be awesome and interesting.

sunscreen, lip balm, thermal wear and gloves are musts for me. I hate chapped lips and gloves give me life because my hands get cold very easily (I actually start wearing gloves below +12)

I just came back from a trip, and although I was in Spain, I needed so much more than I did in summer. That’s why I prefer travelling to the tropics or at least warm countries in summer 😉

When I visited Europe, it wasn’t winter, but it was extremely cold! I’m thankful for the thermals I carried along with my down jackets. I forgot to pack lip balm, thank goodness I had Vaseline at that time. Great list!

Thats a very useful list. When you think about winter you are so focused on the warm clothes that you forget the cream and moisturizer’s.
