Want To Host A Movie Night? Here’s How To Plan Something Fun

Hosting a movie night is one of the most affordable yet enjoyable activities you can do. Everyone has a few favorite movies they love to put on to relax to; combine this with some good friends and great food and you’ve got the perfect night in! Whether this is a Christmas celebration or just a random Saturday in March, a movie night will always be a lot of fun. If you want to plan the best you’ve ever hosted, make sure you use the tips down below.

Use a Projector

If you plug in a projector and face it toward a blank, pale-colored wall, your movies are going to be on the big screen! You might lose a little bit of definition, but if you’d love to capture the feeling of being at a drive-in movie theatre, this is the setup to go for. If you don’t already own a projector you can buy one for relatively cheap, and then you can use it time and time again if you want to turn this night into a regular thing.

Bake Up Some Snacks

Don’t just rely on bags of popcorn for your movie night – bake up some yummy recipes you can dip into during the marathon. A plate of nachos is standard, but you can layer them up with all kinds of other ingredients like cheese, salsa, guacamole, and even slices of chicken or chili. You should also think about making ‘miniature’ versions of food favorites, like sliders and kebabs, for people to pick at throughout the night. Make sure the drinks are just as creative too!

Stream From Your Phone

Unless you’ve got a smart TV, you’re only going to be able to watch what’s already on the box or any connected apps that came pre-installed. This is going to kind of limit your options if you plan for your movie marathon to go all night long! So hook up your phone and stream from it. If need be you can also look up how to change your ip address on android, if you’d like to access some geo-restricted media you’d love to share it with your friends; not everything is available on the same Netflix subscription!

Host a Quiz

If you want to make sure your friends are paying attention to the movies you’re putting on, host a little pop quiz a couple of times throughout the night. Quizzes can get people into the competitive mood and it’s a lot of fun to know a little detail your friends just can’t remember! Of course, to make sure this remains a fun activity, you can offer prizes out to the winner (and maybe something smaller to the runner-ups), but that’s up to you.

If you want to host a movie night sometime soon, call your friends around, set up a projector, and have a mini buffet ready to go. If you’re stuck for quiz questions, look online for ideas!
