The Plot of Clickbait

The story revolves around a normal family where there is a husband a wife, two children's, a grandmother and a sister. Initially the Nick (Adrian Grenier), father of two children, got missing. Later the police detective and his family found his dead body; turning the show into a murder mystery. All the police, detectives and even his family try to solve the mystery behind this murder. Family simply wants to know who murdered their family member and want to punish that person. They are very emotionally attached with this case and with what happened in their life.

Till end, the story is successful to maintain the suspense and thrill. Nobody was able to guess who actually murdered Nick. At a time every person in the series was considered as a suspect. It is like combinedly solved mystery by his family and the detective. Some of the clues are traced by the family members and some of the clues by the detectives. Even the two sons of the victim help detectives and family members to solve the crime; truly exciting.

How the Story of Clickbait starts?

The story of Clickbait starts with Nick and his wife living in a house with two sons. Nick is a physical trainer at a sports training institute. His wife is a teacher in a school for several years. They were happily living until this unusual event in their life happens. One day Nick as usual got ready for his job and went missing. After few hours of his missing, his sister saw a video of him online. It was a viral video of him, in which he was holding a hand written sheet which says ‘I have abused a woman' and ‘when this video got 5 million views, I will be killed'. This concept makes it more thrilling.

It is a fact that any viral video would take few hours to get 5 million hits. His family went to local police and showed them the video. Police and detectives immediately started investigating. They started by watching videotapes of Nick's daily routine job on his way to work. They started questioning people from his workplace, his family members and his neighbors and all the persons related to him. The objective was to understand who actually could be involved in this.

Every family, every marriage has some issues, conflicts and situations so does Nick. he has some conflict and issues with his partner Sophie (Betty Gabriel)  and even with some of the other family members. But they were working together to resolve these issues and conflicts. Before they could completely resolv their conflicts the incident happened. It raised major questions of who is involved in kidnapping and murder of Nick. It can be anyone near him around him.

About Nick

Nick was a very loving person. He had a helping nature. He loved his family and sons and sister; always taking care of everyone around him. Even at work, he was very polite and calm. Nick was always ready to understand and do anything for the person he loves. This has raised major questions that with the most loving and understanding person who could have done this; who could have kidnapped him and threatening his family that he will be killed soon. It was majorly confusing and creates a suspense for what actually has happened.

After some time another video of Nick got viral; in which Nick was again holding a sign which says that, ‘I killed a woman' . His family, neighbors, and his co-workers were not ready to accept the fact that Nick has killed any woman. They believed that there must be some confusion with kidnapping and this whole incident. This created a lot of emotional energy between the characters, and family.

The Rating of Clickbait

IMDB has rated this series of Clickbait 7.2 on the scale of 10. 94% of Google users has liked this show. It is worth watching for those who enjoy mystery, crime and thriller genre. This series is created by Tony Ayres and Christian White. There are total of 8 episodes in Clickbait. The cast is brilliant. The show is commendable. The performance of characters is quite remarkable; a must watch series on Netflix.

The Story goes on…

The detective and family members have found that Nick has his multiple profiles on dating apps. He has been dating several women. It has raised questions within his wife and family. He is married and has two sons. Then why is he dating several girls under different names. Later, it revealed that it was not actually Nick but his information was used falsely. This created a huge confusion for the police, detective, family and the person who kidnapped him. The kidnapper later understood that he kidnapped wrong person. It was not Nick who kidded anyone. but he himself was falsely caught up in the situation as bait. This also creates a lot of thrill and a question that who actually killed him? If the kidnapper knew then who killed him? And what is the reason behind the killing?

Sister's Role

Nick's sister, Pia (Zoe Kazan) is closely involved in the case and the entire investigation. She was very furious about the whole thing that happened to him and his family. Pia even closely helped the detective in solving the mystery. She loves her brother a lot. They both were heartily connected since their childhood to each other. That is the reason she was very hurt with what happened to her brother, and couldn't wait to punish the person behind this whole thing.

The spontaneous, impulsive Pia, refuses to stand aside and wait for the police to do their jobs. “This video is not a confession. It's a death threat,” she says, and she turns to hacker friend Vince (Jack Walton) to look into Nick's online life and help her investigate on her own. Her other ally is Detective Roshan Amiri (Phoenix Raei), a missing persons detective desperate to prove himself and earn a promotion into homicide.

The Episodes

Each of the eight episodes of “Clickbait” focuses on a different character, with episode titles like “The Sister,” “The Detective,” and “The Wife.”, “The Son”, “The Mistress” and so on.

We often have listened that we should not have share our personal information or passwords with other person this is the best visual example of why we should not have share personal information and password with the person even they are known to us, Nick once made a mistake like this which led him and his family to this situation, somebody around him has used his personal information and created profiles on dating apps and misused his data, This whole series is a lesson for those who take their password security for granted and shows exactly why it is so much important.

Ultimately, “Clickbait” doesn't say anything singular about the anonymity of the Internet, and it flirts with a lot of big ideas it doesn't pursue as vigorously as it could have: how the community of chat rooms and message boards can lead to insularity and paranoia; the disposability of hookup culture and the way toxic masculinity can manifest within it.

Watch Clickbait on Netflix , as it is hitting upward  for watch list.

Wonderful review, I was wondering what this series was about and what it wanted to say. I’ve seen the main female actor in another movie and this is a big role change for her. Great review!

Oh my! I and my husband just finished watching this series and we really love the story line. The ending was very unexpected but I felt really sad for Nick, he was killed by mistake, it’s not even his fault that those things happened. It was the fault of that old lady that one life was wasted. Poor nick… 🙁
