Weekend Visit to Amaya Resort in Uluberia, West Bengal

With the pandemic restrictions and concerns preventing long travels, weekend getaways have gained more prominence now. And I did not want to miss the opportunity on a weekend just after Diwali. The school holidays and office break were a boon. So I planned for a family trip to an offbeat location in my resident state. The destination was Amaya Resort, a luxurious stay in Uluberia in the state of . As for my international readers, West Bengal is a state located in the eastern part of India.

The Journey to the resort

At about 12:30 PM on a Friday afternoon, we started our journey for the Resort. The traveling time is only 1 hour from my house to the resort. I was quite enthusiastic about the visit. The idea of escaping from regular life and indulging in the beauty of nature is something I crave very much. The pandemic has restricted my long travels and even my short business travels too. But that traveling urge is relentless and keeps on hovering over me the moment I feel dejected or bored from daily life.

The roads were like beckoning me throughout the journey; a zeal that was mounting up, the more the car was closing towards the destination. The feel was awesome which I wanted to linger on till I reached the resort. The grand gate of the resort seemed to greet us overwhelmingly. I loved the entrance to the resort, well-curated with beautiful blooming flowering plants and innumerable trees.

From the entrance to the rooms

The name, “Amaya Resort” was grandly inscribed at the entrance which caught my attention. After completing the formalities at the reception, our luggage was kept inside a battery-operated car and we also sat on to it. The car escorted us to our rooms. As the car was passing by the lanes of the resort, I was quite amazed to check the care and attention in which the resort was being maintained. We entered our rooms and were glad at the first sight of it. There were glass doors that opened up near the swimming pool. I just loved the view from my room. The best part was they had offered some casual wooden chairs and tables to sit on the lawn. It was good for me as I was looking for some quiet place to pen down my daily words.

First Day at the Amaya resort

After unpacking some of the luggage, we went for lunch at one of the restaurants. We ordered some Indian dishes. The food was delicious and tasty. After lunch, we had a walk around the resort. The bright sun greeted us and sparkled across the greenery of the resort. The entire resort is superbly maintained, which is worthy of appreciation. I clicked several pictures and yet seemed not enough. There was a small temple inside the resort. It was a divine place, quiet and calm. The temple had a beautiful garden around it which even magnified the calmness dwelling at the place.

The most beautiful view was the rays of the setting sun spreading across the treetops. I just soaked myself into that extravagant brightness. As the darkness descended, we decided to walk back towards our rooms. After a few minutes of rest, decided to visit the pub for a drink. The pub was not very crowded as there were few visitors at the resort on that day. We enjoyed the drink, served with care. The day ended with a delectable dinner at the restaurant. As for me, I wrote down some words as part of my regular blogging activity. Then retired to sleep.

Second Day at the Amaya resort

The next day (Saturday) I woke up at 6:30 AM and decided to walk around the entire resort complex. As I stepped outside my room, the fresh morning air greeted me. I looked up at the clear blue sky and closed my eyes to feel the charm. The chirping of the birds entertained my ears. The entire landscape of the resort was adorned with green plantations and flowers. There are few lawns at the resort where you can just walk around without your shoes. It was a wonderful feeling to just stroll along with the grass fields. I breathed in the fresh air and was engulfed in the myriad beauty of nature.

The butterflies dancing merrily over the flowers in the garden attracted my attention. The little squirrels squeaking, jumping, and playing with each other were a pleasure to watch. I was not in a mood to leave behind these enjoyments and go for breakfast. But alas had to do so though not in a convincing mood.

There was a buffet at the breakfast with a mix of dishes from the local, South Indian, and English cuisine. After breakfast, it was for swimming. My son had a lovely time dipping at the pool. The pool was crystal clear with continuous pumping of freshwater. The dept of the pool was also within safe limits as they had no lifeguards. But the caution was appropriately displayed beside the pool. The entire day was spent moving around the resort, sitting and relaxing, and then leisure in the room. After lunch, the afternoon was spent at the recreation center. There were provisions for cycling, archery, carrom, table tennis, soccer table, chess, and many more. The day ended at Amaya resort after lots of photography, watching the sunset, and a sumptuous dinner.

The Final Day at the resort

It was Sunday and we had planned to return back after breakfast and some moments of strolling around the resort. In the morning, I did not miss going for a blissful walk. It was marvelous to watch again the birds, butterflies, and squirrels singing and playing around in the garden. The flowers looked bright and happy. The air was full of freshness. For the last time, I spread across my hands and embraced nature's purity within me. It was time to wish goodbye and return back home. But yes I was much rejuvenated and re-charged after spending time in the vicinity of nature.

And thus we started back our journey home, carrying wonderful memories to cherish.

Your travel blog after covid-19 is simply excellent . Heartfully written , description of Amaya resort in the West Bengal , in the blog , is a narration , as if, carved in lyrics . A tourist , if a writer , pours down her novelistic essence in such a blog , as it appears you have done . Flavourful words prickly touches our heart . How your luggage with you were carried to your suit matters but what matters more is your strolling in the lawn . With your live memory everybody would like to spend a few moments in such a lodge . And Thanks !
