A bit late, but never too late to be spooked by a few best horror movies this Halloween season. You may have had your share of scare already. Let not the heartbeat be normal. Here is a list of best horror movies that you may have missed.

The Dyatlov Pass Incident (2013; 1h 41m; English & Russian)
A movie based on the bizarre death of nine hikers at the Ural Mountains in Russia. Five college students team up to explore what happened at Ural. The movie is captured as if documented by one of them. The team begins the expedition with more curiosity than anything else. At their first camp site, they discover strange foot marks. The next day they reach The Dyatlov Pass. However, they discover they reached earlier than expected and their navigational equipment strangely dysfunctions. They settle down for the night only to be shaken up by an explosion. The story takes an unexpected turn and watch out.

The Wailing (2016; 2h 36m; Korean)
A bit long movie yet totally arresting story. The quiet village of Gokseong in South Korea is rattled with cases of brutal killings. Jong-goo, a police man begins the investigation with his team. Incidentally he has weird dreams about the culprit. Mysterious disease and deaths continue to unfurl in the village. Jong-goo's daughter also shows strange symptoms. She is taken to a shaman to be exorcized which eventually fails. Vicious presence of a stranger in their village makes them go after him. Jong-goo has to protect his daughter and resolve the case too. It is one of the best horror movies you can watch this season.

The Other Side of the Door (2016; 1h, 35m; English)
Maria Harwood lost her son, Oliver in an accident. She is grievously guilt-stricken for not being able to save him although she did save her daughter. After a failed suicide attempt Maria is hospitalized. Her housekeeper Piki informs her about a temple in India that can help her get a final glimpse of her son. The intense desire to see Oliver one last time makes her embark on the trip to India. Inside the temple, she has the opportunity to converse with her son. She goes one step further and opens the door. Reaching out to the other side of the door invites ominous consequences.
Folks, keep the volume high, let the consequences startle you. It gives you one of the best horror movies experiences.

Verónica (2017; 1h 45m; Spanish)
A captivating opening seen where a girl makes a panic call for aid. The story revolves around fifteen years old Veronica. In her school, she and her friends decide to use the Ouija board. Something strange happens in there and she falls unconscious. Ever since that incident she is no more the same person. Paranormal occurrences hinder her life. Needing peace, she requests her friends to conduct the Ouija board session again but they won't oblige. In a desperate attempt she conducts the session with her siblings. The movie is said to be based on true events.

The Priests (2015; 1h 49m; Korean)
Father Kim is assigned with a young seminarian, Choi for exorcising a girl. Choi is a too mischievous type of guy to be in a seminary. However, his cool attitude fades when he witnesses the dark forces. The exorcism session becomes intense and almost goes out of their hands. However, they regain control of the situation and the evil spirit is sent to a piglet they brought in. Meanwhile, the police are summoned by the girl's parents. It is one of the gripping movies to watch this Halloween season.

Halloween (2018; 1h 46m; English)
Without a Halloween movie the best horror movies list isn't complete! Never miss the previous ones in the Halloween series.
Laurie Strode is a survivor from the series of killings that happened in Haddonfield. Traumatized and alienated she has been expecting the killer ever since. After being charged with the killing spree, Michael Myers is in psychiatric confinement. While being shifted to a prison he escapes and is back to Haddonfield. He resumes killing people and reaches finally to Laurie. Can she stop him?

May the Devil Take You (2018; 1h 51m; Indonesian)
In pursuit of quick wealth Lesmana makes a pact with an evil force. Sure enough his wish is fulfilled. Soon after that he falls mysteriously sick and is hospitalized. Alfie, his daughter from his first wife also is called upon. Strange occurrences startle everyone in the hospital room. Alfie visits a bungalow where she had been as a child. She meets her step mother and siblings there. The property is in Alfie's name and they are in search of documents when they stumble upon the unexpected. Not all locked doors should be opened!

La Madre (2016; 1h 29m; Spanish & Filipino)
Diana Prieto lives with her autistic son Martin in Spain. Pregnant Diana finds it challenging to look after her son and herself. Her husband Tomas works abroad and is mostly busy. While shopping, Diana chances upon Luz who seems to be skilled to look after autistic kids. Sure enough, Luz is hired and she makes Diana's life easy and happy. Martin makes dramatic improvements in his behaviour under Luz's supervision. Gradually, Diana realizes Martin is taught Pilipino and what they communicate is something sinister. The story turns disturbing and is one of the best horror movies you can watch now.

I am glad to read thoughts of someone who has done so much research in the field and watched so many movies from those many cultures. Hats off and thanks for the post. I liked the story of veronica but I’m too scared to watch it!
