Peddle boating, speedboating, kayaking, canoe rides and swimming entertain you. Such rides offer you opportunities to watch the wildlife. The wildlife that habitats in the area include vendace, charr, crayfish and schelly.

Cycling is another jovial way to enjoy your stay. Family-friendly cycle routes ensure you have the best experience exploring the Lake District. Mountain bikes and on-and-off road electric bikes are available for rent for different age groups. It is the birthplace of British mountaineering. Hiking and walking provide great opportunity to discover the wilderness of the national park. With enormous freedom to move around or climb, your stay becomes a delightful experience. A brief journey in the steam engine train is a fascinating experience. The short-distance trains are run only for the purpose of offering an entertaining ride to the tourists.

Popular Caves

For those of you looking for a little adventure and excitement, visiting the caves in the locality is a good option. There are several caves in the Lake District. While many of them are inaccessible, a few of them are frequented by tourists. Rydal Cave, originally a 200 years old quarry used to mine slate tiles is now a top spot of local attraction. Among other frequented ones are 15-meter-long Buttermere Tunnel, eroded Priest’s Hole Cave, Impressive Cathedral Cavern and Millican Dalton’s Cave that is named after a professor who lived in the cave for about 50 years.

Castlerigg Stone Circle

Castlerigg Stone Circle is a collection of 38 free standing stones. The charming location provides a 360-degree view over the surrounding area. Among the many other stone circles in the country, Castlerigg Stone Circle draws distinct attention. Dating back to the Neolithic period 4000 to 5000 years ago, it is believed to be the earliest one in the country.

The Stay

Lake District hotels and cottages which take you back in time, provide you excellent accommodation facilities. Despite its age-old appearance, the interior is decked to be smart space to stay. All these cottages are furnished with 6-8 bedrooms. Which means, if you are a small family visiting all by yourself, you will have to rent out the whole cottage at a whopping price or share it with strangers. On the other hand, if you are part of a group of friends or families, sharing the space becomes comfortable. Apart from all the cosy and essential furniture in the rooms, the kitchen is equipped with all the necessities. Take joy in cooking a family meal together or barbeque your favourite dish out in the open. For those of you seeking extra excitement, campsites, caravan sites and bunkhouses are popular too.
