11 Top Action Movies to Watch during Lockdown

Continuing with our Movie Series, today we are sharing another interesting list of top action movies to watch during lockdown.

Bad Genius

Bad genius (2017, 2h 10m) Thai – Students devise several methods of malpractices during exams, Bad genius is inspired by such incidents. The newly admitted Lynn is an apparently bright student and merits a scholarship. Despite being a highly intelligent student, Lynn prefers to take sly means to achieve academic accolades and win her pocket money. Upon learning that her school takes fees from her father in spite of the scholarship, Lynn devices methods to help her classmates to cheat even in a global exam held in Sydney. It is certainly one of the top action movies to watch during lockdown.

22 July

22 July (2018, 2h 23m) English – A distressing account of the terrorist attacks on the Norwegian government, the civilian population, and a Workers' Youth League summer camp. The incidents took place in Oslo and Viken on 22^nd July 2011 when Breivik who calls himself the leader of a group called Knights Templar triggers a series of bloody attacks. The story is based on the book, One of Us: The Story of a Massacre in Norway — and Its Aftermath.

Joseph

Joseph (2018 2h 18m) Malayalam – The protagonist of the story, Joseph is a retired, divorced and alcohol addict Police officer. His acumen to solve vital cases keeps him active and sought-after despite retirement. He along with his police friends has a major case to solve after his ex-wife is killed in an accident. Soon they discover it was no accident and the story becomes one of the top action movies to watch during lockdown, that unravels some hidden truths.

Line Walker II

Line Walker II (2019, 1h 38m), Chinese, Mandarin – A police story that revolves around child trafficking and the moles in the police department. It is a sequel to the movie Line Walker (2016). Police are after an international terrorist organization that abducts children and train them to infiltrate police forces. Yiu is a hacker who gets some information about the activities. Before she could sort out anything the scouts within the police department take the matter into their hands.

K.G.F Chapter I

K.G.F Chapter I (2018 2h 50m) Kannada – The movie is about the incidents happened in Kolar Gold Fields as narrated in the book, El-Dorado. Rocky, a poor and orphaned child after his mother dies, arrives in Bombay with an insatiable quest for power. Once he becomes a powerful figure in Bombay, he is hired to assassin someone in K.G.F. With powerful punch dialogues and stylish stunt scenes it was very popular in Kannada in 2018. It is one of the top action movies to watch during lockdown.

Andhadhun

Andhadhun (2018 2h 30m) Hindi – Inspired by a French short film, Andhadhun tells the story of a blind pianist, Akash who becomes a murder ‘witness'. Since one of the culprits involved in the act is a police officer, a turn of events gets complicated. In an attempt to escape the scene, Akash gets into more complicated issues. Later he migrates to Europe to live out his dream.

Ratsasan

Ratsasan (2018 2h 50m) Tamil – It probably was the best and top action and thriller movie released in Tamil in 2018. Teenage school girls being kidnapped and brutally killed triggers the storyline. Aspiring filmmaker turned ASI, Arun investigates the case and is determined that the offender is a serial killer. After asserting a potential victim, he is on the prowl to nab the villain. The movie is remade into Telugu in 2019.

Outbreak

Outbreak (1995, 2h 8m) English – Sure an old movie, yet given the times we are going through, it is one of the top action and thriller movies to watch. In the opening scene, a deadly virus called Motaba infected camp and its inmates is destroyed to contain the spread. Decades later another outbreak is reported in Zaire. Meanwhile, a white-headed monkey which happens to be the host to the virus is smuggled into California. The medical and military team struggling to contain the deadly virus outbreak gets a twist in the midway. 

Inuyashiki

Inuyashiki (2018, 2h 7m) Japanese – Ichiro is a simple family man who gets little respect at home and Hiro is a school boy. On a particular night, both of them goes through a transformation after an alien intervention. Though apparently human, under the skin, they are no more human beings. With unlimited powers to destroy or heal, one chooses to be kind while the other chooses a wicked path. It is supposed to be the first of the trilogy.

The 33

The 33 (2018, 2h 7m) English, Spanish –The miners from the town of Copiapó gets trapped 2300ft underground when the unstable mine they work in collapses. Stuck below for over two months with a little food, no communication devices, their hope diminishes day by day. On the surface, rescue mission gathers momentum to the point of getting help from global powers. The movie is based on the San José mine disaster in 2010 where thirty three miners were trapped for over two months.

Contagion

Contagion (2011, 1h 46m) English – Another virus related thriller movie. The rapid spread of the virus, hiking mortality rate across borders, spread conspiracy theories. Symptoms, spread and mortality rate indicate it as a likely precursor to Covid-19 or one can assume so. The less said about it, makes it more thrilling to watch.

You may have watched some of them, but I hope the unwatched ones outnumber the other section.
