7 Intriguing Highways in India

Breezing past stunning escapades, gorgeous scenic views and enchanting panoramic landscapes are a desire for every traveller exploring the world. And you can experience this spectacular beauty in its super form only when you hit the roads and whizz along the broad highways. You can witness this awesome ordeal in India, comprising of beautiful and enthralling highways much to the astonishment of the globetrotters. I am privileged many times to ride along such enrapturing highways or expressways in India, my country, beaming with natural life and their enigmatic beauty. Today I felt like sharing the best and astounding highways in India.

Mumbai – Pune Expressway

It is one of the iconic highways in India, meandering the along the mountain walls of the majestic Western Ghats. Being the longest expressway in India, it has reduced the travelling time between Mumbai and Pune to almost 2 hours. The 94.5 km six lane highway offers a wonderful extravaganza of lush greenery combined with intrinsic beauty of Mother Nature. The entire roadway is well planned and has several view points for you to stop and capture some amazing clicks.

Shillong to Cherrapunji Highway

The moment I remember my trip, travelling to and fro via the Shilling to Cherrapunji Highway, I find myself transported to a vivacious land. A land filled with magnificence of natural wonders, and me travelling along the broad roads soaking myself into the soothing and refreshing scenery. Considered to be one of the picturesque highways in India, the total distance to be traversed is 55 km with a travelling time of almost 1 and half hour. The misty clouds embracing the gorgeous Khasi hill ranges are a treat to the eyes for travel freaks.

Manali to Leh Highway

Spiti valley, Leh, Lahaul and Manali are some of the most incredible and captivating tourist destinations of India. Imagine spanning across them in a car or a bus, engulfing the pristine beauty prevailing across them. The Manali to Leh highway offers such a breathtaking experience, creating a vivid atmosphere with dazzling views all around. The length of the entire stretch is about 479 km, operating for 4 to 5 months every year. Rest of the year the land is secluded from other areas due to massive snowfall in the region.

Bangalore to Ooty Highway

The journey from Banglore to Ooty through the highway is still alive in my memory. The roads are clean, well planned and organized. Every moment crossed through the heart of the highway unfolds the splendid beauty more and more, leaving you spellbound and speechless. The unique feature of the highway is the dense forests, gorgeous valleys, tranquil hamlets, encompassing it all around. You can imagine travelling across a fairyland filled with magical wonders. Covering a length of about 533 km, it is one of the phenomenal highways in India.

Chennai to Puducherry Highway

The beauty of this particular highway is its constructed parallel to the majestic Bay of Bengal. The magnificent sea waters waving past the highway is a soothing feast for the eyes. The scintillatingly cool soothing breeze of the ocean engulfs the travellers as they traverse through the highway. The obvious reason why many travel enthusiasts prefer to travel via road from Chennai to Puducherry. The entire stretch spans across a length of about 690 km adorned by the blissful atmosphere and eternal beauty.

Vishakhapatnam to Araku Valley Highway

Visiting the state of Andhra Pradesh and not hopping into Vishakhapatnam and Araku Valley is a great miss. And what if you are fortunate to cross the entire stretch by road between these two amazing sightseeing spots. It's fascinating as well as an outstanding experience, travelling along 114 km amid nature's striking beauty.

Mumbai to Goa Highway

The 585 km road stretch is one of the beautiful highways in India. The entire area is enticing and alluring, inviting nature admirers to hit the road while travelling from Mumbai to Goa for a vacation or weekend getaway. Nature seems to magnify its bag full of wonders at every hour traversed across the highway. You are bound to be mesmerized and dazed by the dazzling beauty at both sides of the highway.

    2 years, I was planning to visit India with my sister and I had to cancel my trip but she did go. I can’t wait to plan that trip again and hopefully, I could visit one of these bridges.
