Strolling Across The Beautiful Notting Hill

Vivid-colored buildings, tall lined-up trees, mini markets, ornate cafes, and neatly laid down streets and pavements – Yes that’s the inherent beauty of Notting Hill.

Remember the most mesmerizing and renowned romantic movie “Notting Hill” starring the beautiful and stunning Julia Roberts and the handsome Hugh Grant. The movie highlights this sensational place in the United Kingdom, and indeed it’s magical to walk down the streets of Notting Hill.

My business travels to the UK are normally of short durations, but I never miss out on hopping onto some places to quench my travel desire and zeal to explore places. And this time it was Notting Hill. And I wanted to share my short but sweet experience of my visit with my readers, followers, and friends. I do not intend to write about the history of the place as I know the internet has plenty of scholarly articles to detail them. But my intention is to instill within all of you a feeling of goodness and happiness which you are bound to experience while visiting the place.

The Radiant Colours

As I stepped out of the tube station, my exuberance leaped high watching behold the colors enlightening the buildings with same pattern and same decor. Hats off to the residents and the builders, for respecting and maintaining the similarity with grace. My eyes were soothed, a tinge of smile flashed across my face and I instantly felt good. The tiredness surprisingly vanished, and a moral feeling echoed through my heart, transporting the mind into a blissful state. A mystical experience enchanted my body as I moved along the streets in short steps, grasping the beauty in a mild pace as if savoring the gracious charm bit by bit.

Restaurants, Pubs, and Cafes

A multitude of restaurants, pubs, and cafes greeted me, in a dilemma about which one to pick-select. “Churchill Arms” is a popular pub in Notting Hill and I decided to check it out there. As I approached the pub, I could feel the vibes inside it. I loved its outside decor and was tempted to click some photos. Unfortunately, it was overbooked and hence had to be satisfied with some photos and a quick tour of the inside area. Yet I was not disappointed, since the options were no less. There are plenty of others to grab a coffee or tea or a drink. And if you want to enjoy some munchies, there are many to be sorted and selected.

Plethora of Shops

The next attraction of the place is its plethora of shops, selling varied items starting from gifts, souvenirs, daily household items, home decor, and attire. You must not miss exploring the Portobello Road market. You will love peeping into the shops selling antique items and I was not an exception. Several eateries and street food stalls adorn the marketplace. The market is believed to have 800 stalls which mainly crowd the place during Fridays and Saturdays.

Residential Neighborhood

Next, I decided to walk along the neighborhood and check on the streets for a leisure stroll. And to my utter surprise, the buildings and structures and the trees had a special design pattern. It had its own uniqueness which further enhanced the grandeur of the place. I fell in love with Notting Hill, such care and love invested in grooming this place, is much appreciated.

Best time to visit Notting Hill

Spring is the best time to visit Notting Hill as the weather is pleasant and there is less influx of tourists. You can also visit during the Carnival, this year it is on 25th and 26th August. If you are a spirited and energetic person, then you will surely enjoy the carnival. I am also hoping to plan a trip during the carnival period.

How to reach Notting Hill

You can reach Notting Hill by tube, overground train or bus. If you are traveling by train or tube, the nearest stations are:

  • Blenheim Crescent (PR) – 94 meters away
  • Powis Gardens (PD) – 220 meters away
